The Roger Williams University Law Review
Journal Topic: Economy in Transition: A Challenge to Re-Think the Meaning of Public Interest Law
Topic Description: The Roger Williams University Law Review is now accepting scholarship that contributes to an understanding of the current economic crisis, the economic transition underway, and the impacts of the aforementioned on the field of public interest law. Submissions need not touch upon all themes, although we anticipate and invite articles working at the thematic intersections. With respect to the public interest component of this issue, suggested topics include the ways in which the changing economy has challenged current public interest models, an analysis of the complex nexus between the economy and public interest law, the propriety and viability of law firm public interest deferral programs, the impact of widespread cuts to legal services, and the sustainability of current public interest models. Overall, the most interesting work from our perspective, and what we aspire to cultivate through the dialogue of our issue, is a series of unexpected juxtapositions that reveal unanticipated legal challenges and opportunities.
